Message from Principal Ostrander 1-4-2022

Message from Principal Ostrander (1-4-2022)

Good morning High School families,

Happy New Year! I hope everyone had a relaxing winter break!

A few reminders:

1. If your child is out with Covid symptoms and waiting for Covid results, they should be attending class remotely. If they are too sick to remote in, please call our attendance office at 607-762-6931 so we may mark them absent-excused. Please reach out to our school nurse, Amy Frost, with any health-related questions.

2. Please remind your child of our Covid protocols--proper mask wearing (over the nose and mouth) and social distancing (3 ft. masked, 6 ft. when eating or unmasked). Mask breaks are given in classrooms, but masks should be worn at all times when in the hallways and on our busses.

3. New York State has cancelled the administration of the January 2022 Regents exams. Although we only have a few students affected by this, I wanted to give everyone a heads up. If your child was slated to take a January Regents, their school counselor will reach out with more information. As of right now, the June Regents are still going to be administered.  I will share more information as it becomes available regarding June Regents exams.

4. If you have not filled out the January Covid health screening for your child, please fill it out as soon as possible. It can be found here: https://www.cvcsd.stier.org/StudentHealthScreeningQuestionnaire1.aspx

5. Although we just sent home 5 week progress reports before break, I want to remind everyone that the end of the second marking period is January 28. That is also a 1/2 day for all CV students (including high school). Please remind your child to be completing their school work and working with their teachers if they are struggling. Please reach out to their teachers or their school counselor with any questions or concerns.

As always, please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns you may have!
Thank you,
Jennifer Ostrander
High School Principal
