Message from Principal Curry (9-24-21)

Hello Chenango Bridge Families and Students!

This has been a fantastic week of school pride, professional learning, family connections and student growth :) Chenango Bridge has been full of hats, pajamas, CV pride, and so much more. Teachers learned from Olivia Wahl to develop their strategies in literacy, students have been owning their educational growth through initial assessments and group work, and families had the opportunity to visit CB in-person or virtually. It is a joy to feel the excitement to learn across every corner of this building every day!

A few important areas to note...

Arrival/Dismissal

The First United Methodist Church across the street sent us a "Thank You" note for the care and consideration for their parking lot. I want to thank every family member that uses the lot across the street- this is an essential community partner for our arrival and dismissal. Your work to have this process go smoothly is much appreciated.

Health Processes

Quarantining of individuals will continue to be done through the Broome County Health Department. However, when students are exhibiting COVID-like symptoms, the process for return to school is as follows:

1) Communicate with the school nurse to discuss procedures.

2) Contact your health care provider who will determine if a COVID-19 test is needed OR the provider can give a lab confirmed alternative diagnosis OR documentation of a chronic condition. Documentation must be provided to the school nurse of a negative COVID-19 test (must be a NAAT test – cannot accept antigen test).

3) In addition, symptoms must be improving and the student must be fever free for at least 24 hours without taking medication following health care provider release.

Student Enrichment

There are a few exciting things starting here at CB to enrich our student's learning...

- Chorus for 4th and 5th Graders and Band for our 5th Graders has begun this week with Ms. Palmatier.

- Students will begin swim at the MSHS in the coming weeks... communication on specifics is 'coming soon.'

- While students are at the MSHS for swim, they will also be utilizing our beautiful outdoor classroom for STEAM.

- CB Clubs will also be launched in the next few weeks... communication on specifics is 'coming soon.'

As always, please never hesitate to reach out to me if you have any questions, concerns, or would just like to talk something out. We are so proud to work with each of you to support our student's growth and success!

With great pride,

Tom Curry
