chenango valley summer programs 2019

At Chenango Valley Central School District, our mission is to inspire, engage and empower all students to achieve their full potential. This mission expands the ten-month school year. Therefore, with the help of the programs listed below, our district is proud to present FREE opportunities for our students to continue their educational growth year-round.

**Please note: All grades reflected below refer to grade levels that students will be enrolled in for the 2019-20 school year.**

BOCES STEAM
(Grades: 7 - 10)
Date: July 15 - July 25, 2019
Time: 8:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
Location: One week at BOCES campus/one week at SUNY Broome campus

  • A two-week, hands-on program that engages students in project-based learning around STEAM through the design cycle. Local engineers and educators team up with students in small learning groups to explore and develop projects with real-world applications.
  • Groups (7 & 8 / 9 & 10) will switch between one week spent learning at the Broome-Tioga BOCES campus and the other at the SUNY Broome campus.
  • Transportation will be provided from Chenango Valley Middle School. Additional pick-up/drop-off information will be given at a later date.

BOCES Career Exploration Program
(For students entering grade 6 in the 2019-2020 school year) 
 
Date: July 15 - July 25, 2019
Time: 8:00 a.m. - 3:15 p.m.
Location: Broome-Tioga BOCES Campus
  • Students entering grade 6 in the 2019-2020 school year will have an opportunity to participate in a two-week, hands-on program designed to engage students in career exploration through fun activities in various fields at Broome-Tioga BOCES. This career and technical education program is designed to expose students to multiple career pathways and the foundational skills necessary to succeed in today’s job market through direct teacher instruction and project-based learning.
  • The camp is open to up to 20 Chenango Valley students. 
  • Transportation will be provided from Chenango Valley Middle School. Additional pick up/drop off information will be given at a later date.

Elementary Summer STEAM
(Grades: 1 - 6)

Session 1: July 8 - July 18, 2019
Session 2: July 22 - August 1, 2019
Times: 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. (Monday - Thursday)
Location: Chenango Valley Middle School/High School

  • Our popular Chenango Valley Elementary Summer STEAM program is back! This year’s projects will focus on the theme of “Wonderful Water” and we hope to incorporate at least one field trip for each session again this year!
  • Students will be grouped in first/second, third/fourth and fifth/sixth grade classes. Each group will meet Monday - Thursday for two (2) weeks. The program will be repeated a second time to allow more students to participate. Please only sign up for one session.
  • We will not be able to provide transportation to the program this year, but we will able to take students to the C V Combined Civic Summer Fun program at the conclusion of our program.

C V Summer Arts Program 
(Grades: 7 - 11)

Dates: July 15 - July 25, 2019
Times: 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. (Monday - Thursday)
Location: Chenango Valley Middle School/High School

  • Do you love the arts and performing?
  • How would you like to combine both at our second annual Chenango Valley Summer Arts program?
  • This program will conclude with a production created and performed by the program's participants.

Warrior Academy 
(Grades: 6 - 12)

Date: July 8 - August 15, 2019
Session 1 (Grades 8-12): 8:00 - 9:20 a.m.
Session 2 (Grades 8-12): 9:25 - 10:45 a.m.
Session 3 (Beginners/Grades 6-8): 10:50 - 11:50 a.m.

  • Strength and conditioning academy for all Chenango Valley students in grades 6 through 12!
  • Students will focus on strength/conditioning/flexibility/agility training for ALL SPORTS!
