Superintendent's Message

Dear CV community,

Happy fall! We had a smooth opening to our school year and have reached the halfway mark of the first semester already!

Thank you to all of our families who were able to participate in the open houses this fall. School-home connections are so important for the success of our children.

Your patience is greatly appreciated as we complete last minute aspects of the capital project improvements. We truly appreciate the positive feedback we have received on the upgrades.

Thank you all for supporting our new security protocols of presenting ID prior to entering our buildings. The safety of our students is a priority!

As you are aware, we are preparing for our next capital improvement project with a community vote in December. The focus of this project will be upgrades to both of our elementary buildings.

Thank you to all of our families who helped us celebrate at the “Rally in the Valley.” A special thank you to Mrs. Price, our coaches and athletes, the CV Booster Club, Mr. Tomm, and our CV Administrative team for organizing such a great community event.

We will be celebrating this year’s CV Alumni Recognition event on October 27 at the Binghamton Club! Some of the proceeds from this event help to provide scholarships from the CV Alumni Association for our graduating seniors. Please mark your calendars and come celebrate our honorees, their achievements, and the Chenango Valley community! See more at http://www.cvcsd.stier.org/alumnihome.aspx.

We are proud of our recent recognition as one of the top 25 safest school districts, as well as our involvement in the regional “Farm-to-School” grant. This recognition and involvement are the result of hard work by our staff and community partners. We are so fortunate to have the supportive community of Chenango Valley in which to educate our children. Please continue to be good role models for each other and the children we serve.

Lastly, I am planning to have another “Cookies and Conversation” event at the Fenton Free Library on Monday, October 30, at 6:00 p.m. I want to thank the library staff, especially Mrs. Korin Spencer, for helping to sponsor this event. Partnerships with parents, your children, and our community are vital in developing all children into happy, healthy, and successful adults.

All the best for a beautiful fall season!

 Sincerely,

David P. Gill
