'Warrior Basics' Teaches Ways to Develop Learning Skills in Infants, Toddlers

A meeting to help implement a program called "Warrior Basics" was held on November 29 in the Chenango Valley Middle/High School Library. CV Assistant Superintendent Mrs. Michelle Feyerabend oversaw the meeting, which included discussion and group activities to help develop ways to prepare infants and toddlers for school-age education.

"Warrior Basics" helps to teach simple, key actions that parents/guardians can take to help their child develop the ability to think and grasp information. A presentation at this meeting included these "basics":

  •         Maximize love, manage stress
  •         Talk, sing and point
  •         Count, group and compare
  •         Explore through movement and play
  •         Read and discuss stories

The goal is to spread the word and help parents/guardians in the CV community to raise children who are eager to learn and school-ready.

Representatives from organizations including Chenango Valley Central School District, Binghamton University, Chenango Bridge Pediatrics, Hillcrest Fire, Port Dickinson Police and Fire, the Broome County Sheriff's Office, Weis, Lowes, the Broome County Health Department, Chenango Bridge Preschool, the Chenango Bridge Post Office, STIC, and the Fenton Free Library were among those who attended. These individuals and organizations will help to play a vital role in teamwork to make the program a success.
