“Warrior Learners” Sessions Focus on Work-Life Balance

With ever-busy schedules, how is it possible to make time to create a better sense of balance in work and life?

This was the topic of conversation in “Warrior Learners” sessions that Chenango Valley teachers and teaching assistants attended at Chenango Valley High School on January 30. In these sessions, Dr. Andy Blaine, former CV Dean of Students, shared strategies to help make work-life balance more attainable. 

Those who attended were asked to first reflect on what exactly balance means to them and to recall a time when they felt most balanced. They were then asked to work with a partner to plan immediate and feasible steps that could help them achieve a greater sense of balance at this point in their lives.

Goals shared among group members included mapping out/scheduling days both personally and professionally, getting more sleep, and improving organization techniques.

Staff members were also asked to follow up with their partner one week from the workshop date to see the progress of each other's goals.

Each session ended with a guided meditation led by Dr. Blaine. He also provided participants with a list of resources (including meditation apps) that could help them with achieving more work-life balance in the future.
