Goats Help Students Learn About Agricultural Topics
 goat visitng students sitting
Two goats that were each only two days old visited Mrs. Tronovitch’s STEAM classroom at Port Dickinson Elementary on June 1.

The boy and girl baby goats (otherwise known as kids) were part of an Ag in the Classroom visit with Broome County Cornell Cooperative Extension representatives.  Students learned about Ag in the Classroom and facts about goats.  For example, while the goats weighed about 4-5 pounds at the time, the girl goat could grow to about 150 pounds and the boy goat could get up to about 170 pounds!

Students had a great time learning about the goats and interacting with them. They even got to listen to their heart beats through stethoscopes and had fun giving suggestions for potential names for the goats!
